We asked ourselves: what would Martha do?
Pie. Obviously, pie.
Dess and Bruk, stoked on pie (as they should be)
We adapted the creation from this recipe for streusel topped pie, which was kind of confusing, especially considering Martha was a tad hungover, so we made it a little easier for you lovely people.
We totally bought the crust (don't judge us), but there is a recipe for some crust on that link.
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375 F and get excited.
Just demonstrating our mild obsession with the heart shaped measuring cups
Step 2: streusel topping
1 1/2 c whole wheat flour
1 1/2 c rolled oats
1 c packed brown sugar
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c butter (we used becel instead)
Combine all in a bowl and set aside. We chose not to use an electric mixer and keep it chunky.
3 cartons of strawberries for 4 dollars, whaddup!
Step 3: fruit filling
6 cups fresh fruit of choice (we used strawberries because they were on sale)1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
Combine these in a microwave safe bowl and micro for 3 minutes, then transfer to a colander and drain.
Step 4: mix the fruit filling with...
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 c brown sugar
1/2 c sugar
1/3 c cornstarch
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Step 5: Roll out your pie dough (or remove it from the box...), and add the fruit mixture. Bake this at 375 F for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and apply streusel topping, then pop it back in for 30 minutes, or until top is golden brown. Let it cool and serve (with vanilla ice cream, obvi)!
Delicious drippage :)
that literally looks like heaven, please bake me one and send it to hamilton
