Our lovely Daniele surprised us with a late Christmas gift-- a cookie jar! This was a much needed addition to the Ste. Famille household, which was previously sporting a ceramic concoction that resembled a bag of apples... It was strange. No more of that.
So we got this new little jar, and we knew what had to be done:
CHOCOLATE CHIP OATMEAL COOKIES!
Adapted from
allcooks.com, this recipe makes the best cookies-- a definite staple in our apartment. So so good. Although we wouldn't know because we ate most of the dough before even thinking about baking it.
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (we used half whole wheat--just to make ourselves feel a little less guilty)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 3 cups quick cooking oats
- we added 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips, but these cookies are also amazing with raisins and nutmeg, or dried cranberries and dark chocolate chips, or even a little bit of coconut and walnut.
Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 C), and prepare a greased cookie sheet.
Start by creaming the butter and sugars together. Beat in the eggs and vanilla then add the try ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing in the oats and chocolate chips last.
Spoon the dough onto the greased trays and flatten the balls a bit. Bake for 8-10 minutes and enjoy! We know we did. Also go to the gym after. Seriously.
